- During the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, vitamin D deficiency has become a concern among healthcare workers who were under pressure to maintain a lifestyle with low infection risk.
- This study examined the prevalence and determinants of vitamin D deficiency among healthcare workers in June 2023.
- About 90% had insufficient or deficient vitamin D levels. Determinants of vitamin D deficiency included being female, younger age, smoking, not drinking alcohol, low fatty fish intake, and not using vitamin D supplements. Among those who did not regularly use sunscreen, more outdoor activity was linked to higher vitamin D levels.
